Florida Poodle Rescue, Inc. learns about poodles needing rescue through local animal control services, groomers, veterinarians and individuals. A dog is picked up and, if its health record is unknown, taken to a veterinarian to be brought up to date on shots. The dog would also be spayed or neutered if not already done.
The next step is to find foster care while the placement process is initiated. FPR screens all prospective owners to insure the dogs will have loving homes. Personality and size are matched to prospective owners in an attempt to diminish "return rates." Sometimes an adoption just does not work out. If that happens, FPR states in the adoption contract that the dog must be returned to FPR foster care.
